Our Pressure Treatment System
To ensure the longevity of all exposed softwood products preservation is essential. Pressure treatment will aid in the protection against: Rot, decay and infestation.
On site we operate two pressure treatment vessels, In both vessels we use a preservative called ACQ 1900, this is a preventive wood preservative for use by industrial operators.
We produce two colours:
1 – ACQ 1900, Green – typically a light olive green
2 – ACQ 1900, Brown – typically a deep brown
(Please check our price lists to see the colour offered per product)
ACQ 1900 conforms to British, European and international standards for use in BS EN 335 Hazard Classes 1,2,3 & 4. ACQ Efficacy has been tested according to BSEN 599 part 1.
We apply ACQ to our timber in accordance with BS5589 and BS8417 or to our customers specification.
ACQ treated timber
How to ensure effective use:
- > This may be cross cut to length provided the “cut ends” are liberally coated with two applications of a high quality wood preservative.
- > Never place cut ends in ground contact
- > If any ACQ treated timber needs to be rip-sawn or re-shaped in any way this must be re-treated in accordance with specification.
- > ACQ can be painted, stained or varnished provided the recommendations of the manufacturer of the finish are followed. Typically this must be dry, clean and free from any surface deposits.
- > Refer to the “ACQ Permawood Consumer Information Sheet” for full details.
Our Timber Drying Kiln
In spring of 2010 we installed a 20 cubic meter kiln.
We Kiln dry all Softwood Pine material (Listed below) to an average moisture content of 28% prior to treatment.
In following this process this we are removing moisture from the timber, which will then allow for a greater penetration of ACQ preservative.
We now kiln dry all:
- > All Sawn Gate Posts
- > 75mm x 75mm Softwood Sawn Posts
- > 100mm x 100mm Softwood Sawn Posts
- > All Machine Round Posts
