How Timber Sheds are the Perfect Essential to Keep Your Garden Neat and Tidy This Autumn

Timber sheds are a garden staple and not only look great, but they also help keep your outdoor space neat and tidy. As the summer months draw to a close and the weather starts to get cooler, this is a great time to think about a garden tidy-up. The first step is to invest in a wooden shed!

Garden sheds are a storage essential. It may be that you have just moved house and want to spruce up your outdoor space with a timber shed. Perhaps you already have a garden shed, but it is looking tired and beyond repair? How to Make the Most Out of Your Timber Shed This Autumn

With autumn approaching, it may be that you want to store your sun loungers, garden furniture and barbecues in a lockable garden shed. Timber sheds provide the perfect storage solution and means you no longer have to clutter up the garage or utility room with outdoor furniture – so it frees up space indoors too!

Once you start your search for the perfect garden sheds, there are a few things you need to consider first. The first step is to think about the size of the shed you want to buy. Timber sheds should suit the size of your garden (ie not swamp your outdoor space) and should also be big enough for what you want to use it for.

If you want your shed to be used to store garden equipment, patio furniture and bikes, make sure there is enough room for all of this. Take down the dimensions of the timber sheds you are interested in before you buy, including the door size, and measure up the equipment you want to store. Some of the things to think about are: Will you be able to push your lawn mower thorough the door of the shed? Or is the interior big enough to store a folded patio table?

It may be that you want to use timber sheds not only to store tools, seeds and garden equipment, but also bikes and children’s toys, such as toddler ride-ons, footballs, swing balls, bats and nets. Autumn is a great time of year to look at how to optimise the space in your garden sheds. One idea is to use old kitchen cabinets to keep everything neatly stored, so you can find what you need straight away. You may also want to think about ceiling mount bicycle racks, so you can free up the area underneath for garden tools and equipment. It is well worth investing in a shed lock and security bar for added peace of mind – this may well be available as standard or an optional extra.

Timber sheds are not only used for storage, but also as an extension of indoor space. Some of the more popular alternative uses of garden sheds are: workshops, games rooms, hobby rooms, teenage chill-out rooms, play areas, offices or gyms.  This may require the addition of an electrical line and, if so, make sure that it is installed safely and correctly and that you use a qualified electrician.

It may be that you want garden sheds with an extra window, window grilles, and/or opening windows. Nelson Potter’s wooden sheds are available with a variety of optional extras to suit a wide range of uses.

All our sheds are sold in flat pack form with all the fittings included and we also offer a fitting service if needed (price on application).
